Carroll County Illinois
Carroll County was offically formed in 1839, after being carved from the southernmost region of Jo Daviess County. Today, the area remains largely an agricultural community, dotted with small towns and warm, welcoming people. Bordered on the West by the "Mighty Mississippi River" and on the east by prime farmland, the county is conveniently located only two hours from Chicago, and one hour from Dubuque, Rockford and historic Galena located in our neighboring Jo Daviess County.

Just 2 hours west of Chicago land you will find a unique private lake and golf community boasting beautiful waterfront, golfcourse and country view homes. A 636 lake, 22 miles of shore, indoor/outdoor aquatic center, campground, 18-hole golf course, fishing, and more are now encompassed in a private lake community known as Lake Carroll.
Thomson, IL
Outdoor enthusiasts love Thomson. The village's proximity to the Mississippi River and the parks that line its banks make it an ideal place for communing with Mother Nature. Thomson gained a lot of notoriety in recently because of the Thomson Correctional Center.
Of course, Thomson has long-been popular for another reason - watermelons. The crop, and Thomson's rural way of life, is celebrated at the end of every summer during the 3-day festival called Watermelon Days.
